Home grown terror. The FBI makes a ninth arrest in an alleged~라고 얘기하는 plot to ambush매복습격 police officers and then kill more at their funerals. Now to that home grown terror case. In Michigan today,a ninth suspect was arraigned법정 소환되다 in an alleged plot by a Christian militia to murder police officers. 21-year-old Joshua Stone arrested last night is the son of the group’s leader. Bob Orr reports the FBI believes the group was planning to attack next month.
Federal prosecutors say they’ve stopped an imminent촉박한 threat. David Stone and eight followers who call themselves the Hutaree now face charges of plotting to kill police officers to incite선동하다 a war with the US government. The Hutaree spent two years practicing attacks and military maneuvers. They briefly trained with the southeast Michigan volunteer militia. But now a leader of that group is speaking out against Hutaree’s alleged actions. “To threaten law enforcement officers that have families, that are our neighbors, that live in our communities, it’s just….it’s hideous소름 끼치는 idea.”
On its website, the southeast Michigan militia condemns attacks or threats of any sort against elected officials or police. But it also says a well-armed citizenry시민 is the best form of homeland security. US officials, though, are concerned about a dramatic resurgence재기 by militia groups. After the Oklahoma City bombing, militia fervor열정 subsided가라앉다. But the number of militias tripled from 42 in 2008 to 127 last year. And experts say anti-government sentiment is still building among right wing hardliners. “We’re at a time where the economy is bad. People are suffering. They don’t have jobs. We do have an African American President and we have a lot of social reform.”
While many militia members are angry with the government, most do not openly advocate지지하다 violence. But they say they are committed to약속하다 a strong citizen based defense. “The militia is always supposed to be a defensive organization. We are here to assist the communities, our neighbors, our family, our friends.” The Hutaree raids have now sparked Internet chatter재잘거리다 with some militia members supporting those arrested.
