Here’s a look at what’s making news as we head into a new week on Wall Street. A crucial indicator of the strength of the economic recovery is out. The job’s number released by the Labor Department on Friday. The economy created 162,000 jobs in the month of March with the unemployment rate holding steady at 9.7%. That number includes 48,000 workers hired by the Census Bureau slightly less than what analysts had expected.

The markets, meanwhile, wrapped up their strongest first quarter in more than a decade this past week. The Dow Industrials up about 4% in the first three months of the year. The best first quarter since 1998. The S&P 500 rising almost 5%, its best first quarter since 1998. And the Nasdaq closed up 5.7% for the quarter, the best first quarter since the year 2000.
