On Sunday, Pope Benedict XVI said he was sorry, but offered no apology for remarks that inflamed Muslims worldwide. Benedict said his reference 언급 to a 14th century text <14세기 비잔틴 황제의 말을 인용해> 이슬람을 사악하고 비인간적인 종교로 간접 비판함, equating 동등시하다 Islam with violence, did not reflect his beliefs. Still the comments continue to spark 야기하다 outrage 격분, 분개. In the West Bank, 2 churches were firebombed 화염병으로 공격하다 Sunday.

 

In Somalia, a nun 수녀 working in a children’s hospital was shot dead in an apparent 보기에 ~같은 retaliation 보복. “I think that’s a terrible cruel irony, that when the Pope starts to talk about the dangers of violence and religion, that the response is violent.”
