More news from the UN tonight. The General Assembly <UN의> 총회 approved a new Secretary General 사무총장 who is very familiar with the Korean dispute. Ban Ki Moon is South Korea’s Foreign Minister. He has said improving relations with Kim Jong-Il’s government will, in fact, be his top priority 우선해야 할 일. Ban who is 62 takes over January 1^st when Kofi Anan’s term 임기 expires 끝나다.

Of course, nowhere is the tension between the two Koreas more palpable 명백한 than along the Demilitarized Zone 비무장 지대, the DMZ is where the soldiers from both countries have been staring each other down 노려보아 꼼짝 못하게 하다 for more than half a century. Alan Pizzy is there tonight.

 

The North Korean has said that sanctions amount to ~와 매한가지이다<같다> an act of war, but where North meets South at the Demilitarized Zone, the DMZ, it was business as usual today. “They are aware of even the disadvantages 불리, 손해 they have to face after nuclear test.”

 

The DMZ they press up against runs for 155 miles, a vivid 생생한 reminder that the two Koreas have officially have been at war for 56 years. When the two armies are closest, South Korean troops routinely strike a martial arts pose 무예자세를 취하다 as they stare over the demarcation line 경계선.
