GOP 1880년 이후 미국 공화당의 이명, <Grand Old Party> officials tell CNN Republican National Committee 미국 공화당 chairman, Ken Mehlman, will step down 사직하다 from his 2-year term 임기 when it ends in January. Republican sources say the white House is already searching for a replacement to lead the party into the 2008 presidential cycle 대통령 주기.

The National Weather Service says another storm now moving into Washington isn’t expected to cause additional 추가적인 flooding. Heavy rains brought floods earlier this week which damaged homes and roads. Three people died in these storms. Cleanup could take weeks.

In Washington, it’s now official the Democrats have won control of the Senate 상원. Virginia Republican, George Allen, conceded Thursday giving Democrats a majority in the next Senate. Jim Webb unseated 낙선시키다the one-term Republican by about 7000 votes.

And it’s the bottom of the hour, time for the top of the news. I’m Trace Gallagher. President Bush meeting today with Senate Democratic leaders and promising bipartisan 초당파적인 cooperation with the new democratic-controlled congress. The President met at the White House with Senate leaders, Harry Reid and Dick Durban. After the 45-minute session 회의, the three pledged to put bitter campaign disputes aside 제쳐놓다 and work together. Meantime, President Bush is pushing congress to pass some key items while the GOP is still in control.
