It’s enough to give any driver a massive migraine 편두통. “You’re extremely upset, you’re mad, you’re angry, you’re stressed.”

 

The problem, in the last four decades, the number of cars has increased more than 170%. No wonder parking is such a hassle 골치 아픈 것, 혼란. And even if you do find a garage, there’s always this danger. “I want you to take extra special care of this vehicle. Okay. Hey, no problem.”

 

But those days may soon be over. A number of innovations are on the horizon 일어나려 하여. Here in New York City, the first fully-automated parking garage is about to open. A customer simply drives inside the garage, takes his keys, swipes 카드를 통과시키다, 긁다 a card, and leaves. Machines do the rest.

 

“You don’t have to tip the attendants <호텔·주차장 등의> 안내원. No one’s driving your vehicle. No one’s going into your vehicle.” And here’s their biggest sell. “It is impossible for a car to be dented 옴폭 들어가게 하다, 손상시키다 here. The car is never moved. The pallet 팔레트 <창고·공장 등의 화물 운반·저장하기 위한 받침대> is the only thing that gets moved around the system.” Technology is also transforming garages around the country. In Los Angeles, sensors compute 계산하다 the number of spaces available at any time. Eliminating 제거하다 the need for drivers to go round and round endlessly.

 

And then, there’s the Internet. Spots Scout is a service which claims they will soon be the eBay of parking. Drivers of parked vehicles post <정보를> 게재하다, 올리다 their location and departure time. So that other drivers can claim 요구하다 the space for a small fee. All you need is access to the Internet.

 

“I don’t like technology really, so I don’t even know how to use it, to tell you the truth.” And even technology can’t help with the actual parking. So much for ~란 그저 그 정도다 parallel parking 평행주차. But at least, you might have a space. And for some of us, hopefully, a big one.
