눈이 없는 모스크바의 겨울
Moscow has never known anything like it. Red Square 붉은 광장 should be covered in white snow. But the cobblestones <철도·도로용> 자갈, 조약돌 around Kremlin are as gray as the skies overhead. There’s no queue 줄, 열 for the ski lift and you wouldn’t have to wait long for a go 차례 on the ski jump. The problem is there’s no snow to ski on.
This time last year, it was so different. Temperatures tumbled 급속히 떨어지다 below -20. The Russian capital shivered 추위로 떨다, the Moskva River was frozen solid 단단한. This year, it’s flowing freely. And the air above it is a lot warmer. The experts are astonished <깜짝>놀란 and they’re comparing it to a heat wave 장기간의 혹서. “This winter in Russia, especially in the Moscow regions, the weather is very warm. And we have very high temperatures this winter. The level of the temperature is above the normal, about 15 degrees.”
Some Russians are actually missing all the frost 서리, 결빙 and snow. And they’re feeling pretty down about it. So doctors have been giving advices to how to beat 이기다 this kind of winter blues <단수취급> 우울. And it seems, if you want to cheer yourself up, bananas and chocolates should do the trick <약이> 효과가 있다.
It’s not just humans who are troubled. These bears at St. Petersburg zoo are supposed to be hibernating 겨울잠 자다, but it’s too warm for them to get to sleep. An ice chess challenge between London and Moscow might have taken minds off the weather. But the temperature in the Russian capital was more typical of the British one.
