Back here in Baghdad, more now on what has been a very bloody couple of days here for both Iraqis and Americans. The US military command 사령부 said today a total of ten American soldiers have been killed since Sunday in three separate roadside bombings. All of them outside the city of Baghdad where we are tonight. Nine of those ten Americans died just yesterday making Monday. The deadliest single day for American troops here in nearly a month’s time.

 

Also today, we got very troubling word of the worst Iraqi-on-Iraqi violence since the start of the new security plan here. Our veteran Iraq based correspondent Richard Angle is with us tonight with more on what could be really called a massacre 대량학살 on the Shiite population here. Richard, good evening? Absolutely! Good evening, Brian? Just today there were at least ten apparently ~ 같은 coordinated attacks. All of them targeting Shiite pilgrims 순례자, 성지 참배, killing at least 150 of them.

 

The most provocative 자극적인 and deadly attack was in Hillah, south of Baghdad. Two suicide bombers detonated ~ 폭발시키다 explosive 폭발을 일으키는 vests 조끼 among Shiite pilgrims. The pilgrims are vulnerable 피해를 입기 쉬운 targets. More than a million are now on the roads, marching to Kabala 바그다드 남부 for religious rituals 종교적인 의식 on Saturday. Sunni insurgents 폭도 saw an opportunity and attacked. The bombers killed at least 115 pilgrims.

 

Government officials appealed 호소하다, 간청하다 for local residence to donate blood to care for the more than 200 wounded. But that was just Hillah. 30 more pilgrims were killed in attacks in Baghdad, Khalis, Udaim, Tikrit, and Tarmiyah.
