Good evening. For the longest time, the Bush White House frowned on 난색을 표하다 any real discussion of global warming. The President only really recently started mentioning it in speeches, having previously said the science behind the theory was incomplete 불충분한. Today, at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue 미국 Washington, D.C. 백악관 이르는 , 미국 정부 in Washington, the US Supreme Court 연방 대법원 issued its own opinion of global warming and it’s historic.

 

The majority 대다수 on the Court used unusually strong language saying the risk of catastrophic 재앙의 harm, though remote, is nevertheless 그럼에도 불구하고, 그렇지마는 real. The coastal states in this country, the court went on to order the federal government to look again at regulating 규제하다 emissions 배기 from cars. We begin at the court tonight with our justice correspondent Pete Williams. Pete, good evening.

 

Brian, good evening to you. This is one of the most important environmental rulings in decades. And it puts new pressure on the Bush administration to do something that it so far refused to do. Regulate green house gas emissions from new cars to help limit global warming. Today’s decision is a huge victory for environmental groups and a dozen states including Massachusetts which warned it was losing coastline to a rising ocean level, caused by melting glaciers 빙하 as the world slowly gets warmer.
