And good evening. Katie is off tonight. We’re beginning this evening with the dramatic 극적인 changes that are coming to our world. At least according to scientists. Out tonight with their latest predictions.
They say heat waves 장기간의 혹서, 열파 will cut food production and increase wild fires 산불. By 2020, as many as 250 million more people could go thirsty. And if average temperatures increase just two degrees, it could put 30% of the world’s species at a greater risk of extinction 멸종. We have two reports this evening on our changing climate beginning with Mark Phillips.
The Hollywood sign had a narrow escape 구사일생하다 in a recent California brush fire 산불. It may not be so lucky in the future. More heat, more drought 가뭄 and more frequent fires are in the forecast for the west coast according to UN climate change panel’s latest report. All caused by the diminished 줄어든, 감소한 mountain snow pack 눈덩이로 덮인 들판 that global warming is predicted to bring.
There’ll be more competition for the southwest’s already scarce 부족한, 적은 water reserves 비축, 지정 보호 지역 and more heat waves in all parts of the country, and more flooding in low lying areas of the southeast. But the most severe 심한 effect of global warming over the next century won’t be felt in the prosperous 부유한 west. It’ll be faced by those in the world least able to endure 견디다 it. The poor.
