First Iran where today President Ahmadinejad said his country has greatly expanded its uranium enrichment 우라늄 농축, taking a big step forward in defiance of ~ 무시하고, ~ 반항하여 the world to build that nation’s nuclear program. Tonight, however, senior US intelligence officials are telling NBC news they believe Iran is exaggerating 과장하다 its progress on the nuclear front.

 

Then there is North Korea and this week’s unprecedented 전례가 없는 visit by a bipartisan 초당파적인 delegation 대표단 of American officials. It’s being led by Bill Richardson. He is the democratic governor 주지사 of New Mexico. He also happens to be a candidate 후보자 for president in the Democratic Party 민주당. He is on this trip as a former US ambassador 대사 to the UN who has visited North Korea several times. Our chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell is the only network television journalist with the delegation on this mission.

 

It is a rescue effort facing a deadline 최종기한 of Saturday when North Korea had promised to dismantle 해체하다 its nuclear program. But today the North told Richardson and the administration officials on his mission they could not even start shutting down the reactor 원자로 until the US shows them the money. What’s involved? $25 million the US had frozen 동결하다, but is now released and it’s working overtime to get back into North Korean hands.

 

When they get the money, the North Korean said today they will let UN nuclear inspectors 사찰단 back in immediately. The US worries that if North Korea does not dismantle its nuclear reactor this week, the entire agreement could collapse and with it, any hopes of resolving the nuclear stalemate 막다름, 궁지.
