Inside Iraq today, a group with links to Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for <특히 테러단체가> ~ 자신들의 소행임을 주장하다 yesterday’s attack that killed nine American soldiers. All paratroopers 낙하산병 from the 82nd Airborne Division 공수사단. Their deaths bring the US toll 사상자수 for the war to 3,333. The paratroopers were killed in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad when two suicide bombers blew up 폭파하다 a dump trucks at a patrol base 수색<정찰>기지. The attack underscores 강조하다, 분명 나타내다 the new dangers American soldiers face in that part of Iraq. From Baghdad, here’s Mark Strassman.

 

In two vehicles, suicide bombers came at ~으로 향하여 오다 a company of soldiers with the 82nd Airborne. Under heavy fire from US troops, the first suicide bomber crashed into ~ 충돌하다 a concrete wall near the school’s entrance 입구. That explosion created a hole. And then a truck bomber raced toward the school and exploded. Some soldiers outside were killed by the mid-afternoon blast. Others were killed inside when a wall collapsed 무너지다 on top of them.

 

Hours later on their website, Sunni extremists 극단론자들 linked to Al Qaeda claimed responsibility. In recent weeks, soldiers with the North Carolina based 82nd Airborne have battled insurgents 폭도 in Diyala province. And the cost 희생, 손실 has been heavy.

 

By taking the fight to the insurgents outside Baghdad, military experts believe American soldiers are often vulnerable 공격받기 쉬운 to these sorts of attacks. This was one of the deadliest 가장 치명적인 attacks against US troops since the war began.
