And good evening. On a day when the nation poses 자세를 취하다, ~처럼 보이려고 애쓰다 to remember the people who died fighting our wars, there is a development 진전 새로운 단계, 사태 that has the potential to save American lives. For the first time in nearly 30 years, the US has held high-level talks with Iran. A country that Bush administration 행정부 once labeled ~ ~이라고 부르다 a member of the axis of evil 악의 .

The meeting was an attempt to reduce the violence in Iraq. The fact that the administration agreed to this meeting is a sign perhaps of just how dire 긴박한 the situation in Iraq has become. And so we begin tonight with ABC’s Terry McCarthy in Baghdad.

Ambassador Hassan Kazemi Qomi denied that. He then surprised both the US and Iraq by suggesting Iran could help train Iraqi security forces.

Today’s meeting, the Ambassador said, is the first step towards ongoing talks. Crocker said the US wanted action, not words. With 2 US carrier 항공모함 groups in the Persian Gulf and 160,000 US troops along its western border, Iran is nervous. For its part, the US now realizes the war can only be ended by involving Iraq’s neighbors, particularly Syria and Iran.
