소원을 빌어주는 책, Secret <The Secret>

 

Finally tonight, who wouldn’t want to know the secret to getting what you want. Millions have paid good money for a new DVD and book that promise to tell you how. So, are those dollars well spent, or has the author simply learned the secret to making big bucks <속어> 달러? Here’s Bill Whitaker.

 

The secret is out. "You know this Secret gives you everything you want." The book that purports <문서, 작품 따위가> ~이라고 알려져 있다, <~한다고> 주장하다 to reveal the secret of happiness is dominating 우위를 차지하다 the best seller list. DVDs are flying off store shelves. "We have people come in and buy 20 to 50 copies at a time."

 

"You can have, do, or be anything." Want that necklace, a big house, a cancer cure? Focus on it, feel it, and the universe will deliver. Actor Hal Sparks gave "The Secret" to Samantha Humphreys. "And it worked, you know, like a charm 신통하게 잘 듣다." “Yup.” It worked? “Yeah. It always does.”

 

Now she's in this loving relationship and visualizes 마음속에 그리다, 상상하다 her other desires. So you think $100,000 and it will come to you? “Eventually 결국, 마침내, yes.” When is eventually? “When the universe decides.” Extreme? No, mainstream. Even Oprah says she believes it. “This is the ‘Secret.’”

 

And in Dallas, true believers gather openly 공개적으로, 공공연하게 for "Secret" meetings. "Cause the things that I really truly 참으로, 진실로 want, they really do show up." As New Age as it seems, it's not new. In the 50's, it was "The Power of Positive Thinking." In the 60's, "Good Vibrations <60년대 서프 록 그룹 비치 보이스의 대표 곡으로써> 상쾌한 리듬과 청량한 사운드로 60년대 젊은이들의 안식처 역할을 함."

 

Offering seductively 매혹적으로 easy answers in hard times, says psychologist 심리학자 Jerald Jellison. "I don't want to teach my child that they can just, you know, wish for good grades and they're going to get it. We all understand. It takes work." Just the same, Samantha Humphreys will keep telling her friends "The Secret." And nobody says to you, ‘oh, come on, this is ridiculous 우스꽝스러운, 터무니없는. “You know what?
