Good evening? We begin with an economic show of force by America’s illegal immigrants. Today, hundreds of thousands demonstrated around the country instead of going to work. In some areas, they also boycotted businesses. They wanted to show America how much the country and economy depend on undocumented 이주<취업> 증명서를 가지지 않은 workers.

 

All together close to a million people took to the streets 가두시위에 나서다 in more than 30 cities and that number could still rise. It was the newest wave of protest against legislation 법률 that would increase the penalties 형벌 for being in the US illegally. Tonight, we have reports from around the country. We begin with ABC’s Miguel Marquez in Los Angeles.

 

They came by the hundreds of thousands from farming fields, from schools, from offices and from construction sites. Hassle Gonzales is a small business owner. How much are you going to lose today by being down here? “About thousand. Thousand.” One thing that’s different between this march and earlier protest is that this one is much more organized.

 

This is Dean Reynolds in Chicago where the police here say at least 400,000 people were on the march today. “We’re here. We’re not going back.” Organizers said most of the marchers here were illegal immigrants. Are you trying to get citizenship? “That’s…that’s why we are here.”

 

A fact that they hope will resonate 공명하다, 의견 따위에 동감하다 with lawmakers. One of the main slogans of this group today in Chicago is, ‘Hoy, marchamos; mañana, votamos.’ ‘Today we march, tomorrow we vote.’ And today they had the look of a powerful political movement. Elizabeth?
