Tonight, the report all of America has been waiting for. “I have recommended the drawdown 축소 of the surge forces 병력증파 from Iraq.” The General in Charge 이라크 주둔 미군 사령관 says 30,000 troops could be home by next summer. “The military objectives 목표, 목적 of the surge are, in large measure, being met 충족시키다, 맞다.”

Good evening. For months now, President Bush has been pleading with ~에게 간청하다 Americans give the troops surge in Iraq, time to work, wait for the top commander to report back. Today, he did. General David Petraeus went before Congress 의회 and acknowledged that when he took over nine months ago, the US was failing in Iraq.

 

The General got specifics 명세, saying security incidents have declined 감소하다 in 8 of the past 12 weeks. But improvements have been uneven 불규칙한 across the country. Still, the General is recommending some troops come home in December. We have extensive coverage tonight, beginning with David Martin.
