Good evening. Tonight, you’re about to see what may be some of the last images sent over the Internet out of Myanmar where a violent confrontation 대면 with government troops is now in its fourth day. Today, the government shut down the Internet and text messaging, essentially cutting off the outside world from knowing what is happening to a pro-democracy movement led largely by Buddhist monks. NBC’s Inn Wanes reports now from neighboring Bangkok, Thailand.

 

Myanmar’s military rulers are now trying to block the world from witnessing their brutality. Today, cutting Internet links which have been so vital for sending images and information out of the country. These pictures did get out. The security forces today breaking up fresh protests on the streets of Yangon. Once again, there were few monks among the protestors. Security forces have sealed off the monasteries and entire areas of the city.
