The run up in the price of oil has been dramatic. Just a year ago, $60 a barrel. Now at nearly $92. What’s fueling these record highs? First, the supply itself. Just this week, we learned US oil inventories 재고<자산> are down 5.3 million barrels when analysts expected the supply would actually grow.
Then there’s the growing uncertainty about oil producing countries. The US sanctions 제재 against Iran, tensions 긴장 between Turkey and Iraq. “That means that oil prices are $20 higher perhaps in where they would be if we didn’t have these problems going on in the Middle East right now and in
And analysts do not see any end in sight saying $100 a barrel is not out of the question 불가능한. Why? They point to the weakening US dollar. With oil prices worldwide set in dollars, other countries are buying up supply, getting more for their money than we are.
And the US refineries 정제소 that make our gasoline and heating oil are passing on the higher costs. Gas that’s now $2.78 a gallon, not much relief from the $3 we paid this summer. And with winter nearing, there’s the heating oil.
