From NBC News, this is a special edition of TODAY. TODAY goes to the ends of the earth with Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira. Alright, Meredith. Thanks very much. All around here in Greenland, you see these beautiful dogs. They’re the only dogs allowed in this country. Here in Ilulissat, there’re more of these dogs than there are people. But as I said before, they are not pets. They are bred 양육하다, 기르다 for one purpose and one purpose only, that is to pull a sled 썰매.

The sled dog, a long proud Greenlandic 그린란드의 tradition. Used for 5,000 years by hunters and fishermen bred to power sleds and keep warm in temperatures that drop to minus 40 degrees. They are direct descendants 자손, 후예 of they wolf, so they howl 소리를 높여 길게 뽑으며 짖다 instead of bark < 등이> 짖다.

 

Although they look cute and cuddly 껴안고 싶은, these dogs are not pets. Local law demands they are chained. In Ilulissat, there are more dogs than people. But today, their numbers are shrinking along with the ice.

 

And by the way, it’s that direct descendants of the wolf part that makes you a little bit nervous when you turn your back on these dogs. Also, we should tell you the lead dog, the dog at the front is not necessarily the fastest dog or the strongest dog. In fact, they tend to put the peacemaker up there and oftentimes, it’s a female. 일본 팬더의 특별한 사랑

 

These are red pandas at a Japanese zoo. And this PDA, or Panda Display of Affection, is drawing ~ 끌다 record crowds. The zookeeper says their devotion 강한 애착 to each other is unusual. Maybe they should get a cage.
