Good evening. It’s not often we begin this broadcast with the number. Force statistics 총합 are impersonal 개인적이 아닌 and this number is very personal. 4000 lives. 4000 lives now lost in just over 5 years of war in Iraq. Last night, about 10 PM Baghdad time, 4 US Soldiers were killed by a roadside IED <Improved Explosive Device>, 도로 매설 폭발물 in southern Baghdad. And that brought US war casualties 사망자수 to 4000. We start with our national security correspondent Jonathan Karl.

 

The 4 soldiers were killed here along the Baghdad airport road. The weapon? A roadside bomb. More than half of those 4000 have been killed this way. Today, their fellow soldiers were well aware of the milestone.
