Good evening. There is a lot of news tonight concerning the shape we’re in these days, the nation’s economy. And what we’re about to report was evidence enough to some people today that the US is now firmly 단호히, officially in a recession 경기후퇴, 불경기.
First of all, General Electric. The owner of this network and so much more, second largest company on earth, a widely held stock, a big bellwether <산업계의> 선도자, 지도자, reported a nearly 6% drop in income for the first quarter. That was a surprise result that rattled 놀라게 하다, 당황하게 하다 Wall Street.
Consumer confidence <경제 전망에 대한> 소비자 신뢰 지수, we learned today, is at a 26-year low. And Frontier Airlines has gone bankrupt. But it is still flying tonight while it rearranges its business. And it doesn’t help the US economy that the biggest fleet <동일회사 소유의> 전 항공기 in the air, American Airlines, has hundreds of aircraft forced to stay on the ground. Hundreds more cancelled flights today in this ongoing crisis in the domestic airline business. Again tonight, Tom Costello starts us off here in
Hi, Brian? The total number of flights cancelled today is 600. That’s down from about 1,000 yesterday. And while the frustration level did seem to drop a bit today in the airports, we did have another airline declare bankruptcy. In American Airline’s hub 중심, 중추 cities of Dallas and Chicago, quieter terminals with fewer stranded 발이 묶인 passengers today.
