It was a chance to put aside 제쳐놓다 the bickering and to put forth 제안하다 solutions. But from the first question, it was clear Senator Barack Obama’s comment about bitter 비통한 small town voters 경제적 어려움으로 소도시 거주민들이 총기와 종교에 집착하고 있다는 발언으로 비난을 받음 was still foremost 맨 앞의 on the minds of many.
Obama defended himself 자기를 변호하다 in the second half of Sunday night’s compassion forum 빈곤, 에이즈, 인권 등 윤리적인 주제를 다룸. “And so it’s very important my words may have been clumsy 꼴사나운, 서투른.” Before the forum, Obama was not as polite, hurling 퍼붓다 harsh 거친 words at his opponent Senator Hillary Clinton. He accused her of manipulating 조작하여 속이다 his words saying she knows better, shame on her.
Obama was also asked how Reverend 목사 Wright 오바마 담임목사 brought him closer to God. Wright’s comments have been controversial. But Obama defended his pastor 목사 adding he’s never been his spiritual advisor. “Pastors are imperfect. Certainly the membership isn’t perfect.”
