Diane? Alright, and on a related issue is we know millions and millions of Americans now lease their cars, but if you’re one of the millions of Americans who are doing that, it could just have become a lot harder to do it. Here’s ABC’s Yunji de Nies.
Tim Porter is taking a test drive. “It rides really nice.” A lifetime leaser, Porter swaps 바꾸다 his car every 3 years. “I probably wouldn’t be affording some of the cars I look at.” For Porter and all of us, leasing just got a lot harder. Chrysler is completely canceling its leasing program. Ford is increasing its rates and General Motors could soon follow.
When a lease expires 끝나다, 만기가 되다, the manufacturer takes the vehicle back to resell it. But with skyrocketing 급등하는 gas prices, American automakers are finding themselves stuck with trucks and SUVs that are rapidly losing value. “It’s not unusual to see 25 to 30% less than what they were getting a year or two ago.” For struggling 기를 쓰는, 분투하는 dealers, the timing couldn’t be worse. Leasing is big business. “Leasing is very important that represents 22% of our domestic business and 40% of our import business. So it’s critical 중대한.”
Analysts say buyers can still lease through an outside bank. Dealers are convinced that leasing isn’t gone for good. “I believe in leasing. I think it’s the way to go. You’re paying for what you’re using.” For Good Morning America, Yunji de Nies, ABC News,
