열대 폭풍우 FAY 플로리다 상륙

This is the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. Good evening, everyone. Katie is off this evening. Hurricane warnings are up tonight along the southwest coast of Florida as Fay closes in 다가오다. It’s a tropical storm 열대 폭풍우 right now, but it is expected to get stronger in the hours ahead. The center moved across Key West 미국 Florida주 남서단의 섬 this afternoon. It was heading north…northwest. That’s expected to bring the storm with its strong winds and heavy rain to Florida’s Gulf Coast later tonight.

 

Fay is blamed for ~에 대한 책임이 있는 more than a dozen deaths in the Caribbean. And residents of south Florida are preparing for the worst. CBS Early Show weather anchor David Price is in Naples tonight. David? Good evening. Fay hit Key West with howling <바람 등이> 윙윙거리다, 세차게 불다 winds and drenching 억수로 쏟아지는 rains moving towards the southwest Florida coast. Fay’s expected to dump 와르르 쏟아 버리다 up to 10 inches of rain and increase the possibility of tornados as it moves across Florida. Residents in the storm’s path are preparing. They’re gassing up ~에 휘발유를 채우다 and sand bagging. “I’m kind of concerned. So I come to get some sand bags to protect the water from coming into my house.”

 

500 national guardsmen 주병 have been activated <부대를> 전시 편성하다, but not dispatched 급파하다. And officials warn that this storm can do damage even well away from its center. “Everybody should be ready. Officials reminded Floridians that Fay has a deadly track record, killing at least 14 as she passed through the Caribbean. “Don’t underestimate 과소평가하다 the danger. This is not the storm that should be deadly if we work together. And just stay safe.”
