A day after hurricane Gustav, it was the city’s first big test since Katrina. Anne Curry’s in New Orleans with the latest on that. Anne, good morning to you. Matt, good morning. There are, as you’ve just been reporting, at least 8 hurricane-related deaths. But there was a broad sense all across this region that there could’ve been far more. There are still power outages 정전 and some considerable damage. And, but here in New Orleans, the big focus is on the levees.

Fully breached by Katrina three years ago, reconstruction is only 25% complete. And Gustav’s storm search has been the first real test. Downgraded to a category-2 storm as it made landfall 육지에 도착하다, Gustav brought heavy rain and strong winds across parts of 12 states. Pictures sent from viewers tell the story of Gustav’s wallop 강타력. In Gulfport, Mississippi, NBC’s Michelle Kosenski reported hurricane-force gust 질풍, 돌풍. “Not a lot of commercial….commercial activity out here.”

 

In a town of 32,000, most of whom have left. Winds were still ripping 거칠게 돌진하다 when police started searching. “Are you sure nobody was in this house when the fire happened?” “Nobody was in this house.
