Lester and Amy, good morning to you. Good morning to you at home this Saturday morning. We begin in southern California where fierce 거센, 사나운 winds fanned < 따위를> 부치다 a new wild fire destroying homes and threatening an entire neighborhood. This fire broke out overnight just north of Los Angeles in a community called Selma. So far three homes have burned and dozens were threatened by flames that have already destroyed 75 acres. You can see in this new video. The blaze comes just one day after a major fire tore through multi-million dollar homes and a celebrity 유명 인사, 연예인 enclave 소수의 이문화 집단의 거주지 of Santa Barbara County. NBC’s Mark Mullen is on the fire lines.

 

The Thursday night fire that started small, but grew quickly driven by 70 mile per hour winds was ferocious 사나운 and did not discriminate 차별하다. Torching empty fields and multi-million dollar mansions alike. Moving so fast that even residents who got reverse 911 calls just 10 minutes after it started had little time to grab possessions 소유물 and evacuate 피난하다. “It’s like a windstorm. It’s just like everything just went.”

 

But the neighborhood caught a break 운이 좋다 Friday when the winds die down and gave 11,000 firefighters the chance to battle back from the air and from the ground. No consolation 위로 for those like Helen Rivera whose family returned to their ranch 대목장, 농장 and discovered everything was gone. “It’s huge. It’s unbelievable.”
