“This is a huge massive 대규모의 fire that is on top of the Taj….” Mumbai’s landmark 기념비적인 Taj Mahal hotel burn tonight during a stand-off 대치상태 with terrorists. “There you go. You heard of it. Blast outside the….right now… inside the TAJ hotel.” The hotel with gunmen 권총을 찬 악한 and hostages inside was only one of a series of targets across Mumbai. The attacks began at dinner time in India’s financial capital.

 

A reporter from NDTV, our partner station in India, was on the scene. “Yet again, it’s been hit. And this time, hit hard.” Teams of gunmen fanned out 흩어지다 across the city opening fire at ~에 발포하다 restaurants, a hospital and the train station. In all 합계하여 today, Indian officials estimate at least 80 killed, 900 injured. But the main targets were two luxury hotels. The Taj Mahal and the Oberoi. The hotels attract India’s elite and western tourists. Now is high season.

 

At the hotels, gunmen reportedly took at least a dozen hostages. This man managed to 용케 ~해내다 escape. “And the two gunmen came in with two guns. Lots of smoke and firing guns and took us to the 18^th floor. They wanted anyone with British or American passports.”

 

But as Indian commandos 특공대 moved in for a rescue, the Taj Mahal caught fire 불붙다. A photograph showed one of the roughly 20 gunmen who attacked the city. Clearly shaven, carrying a bag pack and AK-47, looking very young. But Indian officials describe this as a professional and highly coordinated terrorist attack. By midnight, Indian troops surrounded the hotels fought with hostage takers and struggled to contain 견제하다, 봉쇄하다 this wave of low tech, but effective and deadly attacks.
