오바마 대통령 당선자의 경기부양 계획

Good morning. It’s Monday, December 8, from CBS News headquarters in New York, I’m Meg Oliver. He’s already been elected, but Barack Obama still appears to be campaigning. The president-elect is promoting his economic plan with vigor 생기, 활력 tackling 다루다 issues from the auto industry to the housing market. “We are not going to simply write a bunch of 묶음, 다발 checks.” Mr. Obama detailed 상술하다 more of his plans at a press conference 기자회견 this weekend and on a political talk show. CBS’s Joel Brown reports.

 

It’s priority 우선 one for president-elect Obama, fixing the economy. So he’s pushing a massive jobs plan and worrying about the price tag later. “The thing that we have to do right now is to have a bold 과감한 economic recovery plan.”

 

Bold will mean big, a massive public works program not seen since President Eisenhower’s Interstate Highway plan 50 years ago. Mr. Obama suggests rebuilding the nation’s roads and bridges modernizing schools, mass transit <대도시의> 대량 수송 수단, electric grids <전기> 축전지내의 그리드 and creating more green jobs with money for windmills 풍차, solar panels 태양 전지판, and alternative 대체의 fuels.

 

Mr. Obama hopes his plan can create 2.5 million jobs over the next 2 years boosting ~를 끌어올리다 woeful 비참한 employment numbers. The economy has already lost 2 million jobs this year. 533,000 vanished 사라지다 in November alone. Although the president-elect won’t commit to ~의 의무를 지다, 약속하다 a number, but price tag for taxpayers could come at $500 billion or more.
