덴버 공항, 여객기 미끄러짐 사고 

Now on CBS News Up to the Minute. Good morning. From CBS News headquarter in New York, this Up to the Minute. I’m Meg Oliver. It’s still unclear if weather had anything to do with ~ 관련이 있는 the plane accident in Denver this weekend. Conditions were clear, but cold when a Continental Airlines jet veered off 벗어나다, 이탈하다 the runway and burst into flames 불길에 휩싸이다 Saturday. More than 100 people were on board. And one firefighter says it’s a miracle no one was killed. Passengers finally made it to their destination, Houston, last night. Here’s CBS’s Jennifer Miller.

 

The Boeing 737 veered off the runway during takeoff Saturday landing some 200 feet from the strip 가설 활주로. Debris 조각, 파편 scattered 사방으로 흩어지다 along the concrete. It was a chaotic 혼란한, 무질서한 scene as passengers tried to escape. “We can see this dark smoke now and we can see the flames coming out from underneath the right wing.”

 

Smoke filled the cabin <비행기의> 조종실, 객실 of the twin engine jet with the entire right side of the plane in flames. Passengers used emergency exits and slides to get out safely. Most of the injuries were broken bones and bruises. “Then there was a bump 충돌, , and then another bump.”

 

The accident temporarily closed three of Denver’s runways causing some delays. But operations are returning to normal here. And as passenger lined up for their flights, many were asking how did this happen. Investigators say it will be a while before the cause of this accident is known. It was cold in Denver, but no rain or snow.

 

“The flight data recorder and the cockpit 조종석 voice recorder, they were located <물건의 위치 등을> 발견하다 last night. They were secured and they were intact 손상되지 않은.” The accident comes as 2008 comes to a close. A blemish 오점, on what some might say was one of the safest years ever for the domestic airline industry.
