캘리포니아 총격 사건, 시위로 번져

There was trouble in Oakland, California last night, just across the bay <작은> from San Francisco. It began with a demonstration and it turned violent. All of this started with anger over the shooting of a young unarmed 무기를 갖지 않은 man by a transit officer 수송경찰. Back on New Year’s Day, the whole thing was caught on tape that’s led to a lot of questions about how it could’ve happened. Fair warning here! Outrage last night in the streets of Oakland. Protestors set fires ~ 불을 지르다 and broke windows on police cars and storefronts 상점정면. The crowd angered over the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Oscar Grant. On New Year’s Day, at least four different people with cell phone cameras shot video of Grant and two other men surrounded by transit police after an alleged <증거 없이> 주장된 fight on a subway train. The video provided to NBC by a lawyer for the Grant family.

 

Grant is sitting against the wall when officers shove him to the floor and start handcuffing 수갑을 채우다. During this scuffle 난투, one officer, later identified as Johannes Mehserle, pulls his gun and shoots Grant. Both the officers and witnesses react in horror 무서워서. Grant died several hours later in a hospital, leaving behind his girl friend and a 4-year-old daughter. “Her father is not gonna be there to see her go to kindergarten. Grant’s family has a $25 million lawsuit 소송 against the transit system. They’re also urging the authorities to file <고소 > 제기하다 criminal charges 혐의, 고소 against the officer who shot Grant. That officer has resigned 사직하다 from the transit police. And neither he nor his attorney 변호사 will comment. Meanwhile, city officials in Oakland are asking people to stay calm. “I don’t want anyone hurt here.
