From NBC News world headquarters in New York, this is NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Tonight, a huge weather system is on the move 진행되고 있는. It stretches from near Chicago all the way south almost to Atlanta. It contains some dangerous weather. The same system that touched off ~ 유발하다 violent twisters 회오리 바람 yesterday at this time.

 

They continued overnight 밤새. Some folks in the Midwest couldn’t believe what they woke up to 깨닫다. The death toll 사망자수 stands at eight with over a dozen injured. NBC’s Janet Shamlian is in some of the worst of it, Lone Grove, Oklahoma, 100 mile south of Oklahoma City.

 

A rare winter twister, destructive and deadly, took aim 겨냥하다 on Lone Grove. “There it is. There it is.” Warning sounded throughout south central Oklahoma. Within 30 minutes, the tornado, one of several in the region, was flattening <자연 현상> <건물·산림 > 넘어뜨리다 homes and claiming 빼앗다 lives. “The devastation in the path of this tornado is just incredible. It’s…it’s…it takes your breath away.”

 

Most of the deaths were in a mobile home park. Always vulnerable 취약성이 있는. But the timing of the storm caught everyone by surprised. “Yesterday’s tornado here is now the deadliest tornado on record of any day in February in Okalahoma.” Because those killed all lived in this tiny town. The victims are neighbors and friends.
