The Day After NK Missile Launch

And hello again from Fox news in Washington! It has been a dramatic day on the world stage. While most of us were still asleep, North Korea made good on실증하다 its challenge to the world firing a long range rocket over the Pacific. This just hours before President Obama announced an effort to reduce and eventually eliminate all nuclear weapons.

An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council has wrapped up마치다 with no official reaction to NK launching a long range rocket. But Susan Rice, the US ambassador to the UN says Pyungyang’s defiance merits마땅히 받을 하다 a quote “Clear strong response” We know the timing of NK’s rocket launch is very interesting. It came as the president was discussing the spread of nuclear weapons during his visit to the Check Republic. Here is CNN’s White House correspondent Add Henry!

The topic of the president’s most sweeping전면적인 철저한 foreign policy address yet, “ A call to rid the world of nuclear weapons could not have been more timely! “North Korea broke the rules, once again, by testing a rocket that could be used for long range missiles. This provocation underscores the need for action, not just this afternoon at the UN Security Council, but in our determination to prevent the spread of these weapons.” The president was awoken in the wee hours아침 이른 시각에 about the rocket launch and immediately engaged in high level briefings in the Check Republic with top aids like National Security Advisor General Jim Johns and consulted by phone with military officials. “North Korea must know that the path to security and respect will never come through threats and illegal weapons. All nations must come together to build a stronger global regime체제. That’s why we must stand shoulder to shoulder to pressure the North Koreans to change course. “

What does that NK’s launch really mean to Americans and how big a threat is a nuclear North Korea? Let’s get some answers for you now, Richard Roth joins us now live from the UN. That Security Council meeting just wrapped up about 45 minutes ago! Why no action from the Security Council, Richard? Well they only talked for three hours and considering the existing differences between western counties and Asia and Russia, China and Russia. Maybe it was to be expected they could not resolve themselves regarding a statement, a simple statement, even to condemn what NK has done. There was a lot of support for Japan’s position. Said the Japanese…it was their country that this missile flew over and then broke up! The Japanese ambassador. He wants a resolution something legally binding, the most powerful statement the Security Council can make. However China and others feel this is not the time to rock the boat. They wanna lure NK back into those ongoing political talks.
