마약과의 전쟁 - 멕시코 마약 두목 체포

 

In Chicago tonight, a federal grand jury연방대배심원 has returned a 16 count criminal indictment기소 against former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich. The charges include racketeering conspiracy공갈wire fraud전화사기, extortion conspiracy직무상의부당취득 and making false statements허위진술. Five co-defendants including the former governor’s brother and chief of staff were also charged in this. The indictment accuses Blagojevich of using his office to enrich himself and others in exchange for official actions including trying to sell President Obama’s former senate seat. Blagojevich was impeached탄핵 and removed from office by the Illinois legislature국회 back in January. He has repeatedly denied wrong doing. He is reported to be at the Walt Disney world resort with his family tonight.

 

There is word of another major arrest in Mexico in that ongoing war on drugs. A man, authorities are calling, one of Mexico’s top drug traffickers마약상 has been taken into custody tonight. NBC’s Mark Potter has more now on a big break and what has been a long and bloody war.

 

The latest alleged cartel leader to be arrested is 32-year-old Vicente Carrillo Leyva who authorities say was seized while exercising at a park in Mexico City. He’d been living under an assumed name가명 and was still wearing his track suit when he was paraded before photographers. Mexican authorities say Carrillo Leyva was a supervisor of the violent drug trafficking cartel based in Wares, Mexico across the border from El Paso, Texas. That cartel has been waging a vicious잔혹한 war against The CINO LOWA cartel for control of smuggling밀수 routes into the US. Recently, the Mexican government sent thousands of troops to Wares to restore order법질서 확립.

 

This latest arrest was announced on the same day the US homeland security secretary and the Attorney General법무장관 are in Mexico discussing the drug war and what the US can do to reduce the flow of American weapons and cash to the Mexican traffickers. Carrillo Leyva is the nephew of Vicente Carrillo Fuentes allegedly the current head of the cartel and is the son of the former cartel boss Amado Carrillo Fuentes who died during a botched서투른 operation to alter his appearance. Today, the US embassy issued a statement saying this is the latest in a series of arrests of drug kingpins우두머리 in Mexico, and underscores the determination결심 of President Felipe Calderon and his administration to take the fight directly to the drug cartels. Since Calderon took office more than two years ago, his government says 34 cartel leaders have been arrested. But according to the latest list, 32 more are still at large도주중인.
