Good evening. You can tell by the tone of what federal officials are saying both on and off the record that they’re concerned about a new strain of flu never seen before. It’s killed as many as 60 people in Mexico… maybe more. There have been 8 reported cases so far here in the US. Today, some officials openly said the effort now is to prevent a kind of slow-moving global epidemic전염병. Mexico, for their part, they’ve shut down schools, museums, theaters, libraries. Some people are wearing masks. And that is some indication of why the Feds in this country are taking this so seriously.

Good evening. When you hear the words “outbreak and swine flu”, it gets your attention. And there is such an outbreak of a new flu strain in Mexico and the western United States. Medical experts told us it’s serious and deserving당연히…받을만한 of the full attention of public health officials. So far, 8 cases have been reported in this country. All patients recovered. But across the border, in Mexico, 16 people have died and 44 more deaths could be a result of the flu.
Tonight, an outbreak of swine flu. It’s already a killer in Mexico where more than 1000 have caught it. 8 cases here in the US. And officials fear it could spread around the world. A bird, a plane, a collision. The FAA finally releases its data on bird strikes. And they’re up sharply. And when he was born, a flag had just 45 stars. Meet the oldest man in America. And good evening, everyone. There’s growing concern tonight about an outbreak of swine flu right next door in Mexico. Concern that it will spread here and around the world. Mexican officials took extraordinary steps today to try to contain the virus closing public buildings in Mexico City. This new strain has killed at least 20 people in Mexico and made more than 1000 sick. At least, 8 cases of the virus are reported here in the United States. Sandra Hughes begins our coverage tonight.
Fear is running high as the death toll rises in Mexico’s capital city. The worried line up for testing, their faces covered with masks. The government in this city of 20 million closed all public places including schools in a desperate attempt to stop the spread of this strain of flu never seen before. With more than 1000 people sick in Mexico and 8 recent cases in the US concentrated in 2 Border States, 2 near San Antonio, Texas and 6 near San Diego, California, US health officials are watching this outbreak closely.
More than 600,000 people cross the US-Mexico border each day. And the CDC fears it’s too late for containment. Normal swine flu transmission is through contact with pigs. US researchers want to know how the American patients who have all recovered from the disease got it when none is believed to have had any contact with pigs. Now officials are also concerned tonight because they have discovered this new strain that has killed so many in Mexico is in fact the same strain to sickened people here in the US.
