Major protests were planned today at Revolution Square in central Tehran and the situation is reportedly gotten very violent. There are reports of a suicide bombing. Police firing tear gas! All of this, as the country’s top legislative body says, it’s ready to recount 10% of the votes.
But supporters of Iran’s opposition movement are finding a way to voice their views by using the Internet. They’re taking advantage of websites like Twitter, Youtube and Facebook. It’s been a very powerful medium수단 for them. Laura Ingle is watching all of those websites and joins us with the latest. Hi, Laura? HI, Shannon? Well, indeed, social networking sites are turning out to be the salvation구제수단 for those there who are trying to get out words, images and video of the violence in the streets.
The Iranian government ordered a media blackout보도관제 on any reporting of the violence and turmoil혼란 going on reportedly ordered that blackout, shutting down some websites and some cellular phone service. But citizen reporters have sprung up everywhere. We want to bring you some of these latest photos that were getting into the FOX News room right now. As you can see, people there appear to be running from some type of smoke.
