테헤란 위기 최신 업데이트

Hello and welcome to America’s news headquarters… live from the nation’s capital. I’m Shannon Brim. Major protests were planned today at Revolution Square in central Tehran and the situation is reportedly gotten very violent. There are reports of a suicide bombing. Police firing tear gas! All of this, as the country’s top legislative body says, it’s ready to recount 10% of the votes.

But supporters of Iran’s opposition movement are finding a way to voice their views by using the Internet. They’re taking advantage of websites like Twitter, Youtube and Facebook. It’s been a very powerful medium수단 for them. Laura Ingle is watching all of those websites and joins us with the latest. Hi, Laura? HI, Shannon? Well, indeed, social networking sites are turning out to be the salvation구제수단 for those there who are trying to get out words, images and video of the violence in the streets.

The Iranian government ordered a media blackout보도관제 on any reporting of the violence and turmoil혼란 going on reportedly ordered that blackout, shutting down some websites and some cellular phone service. But citizen reporters have sprung up everywhere. We want to bring you some of these latest photos that were getting into the FOX News room right now. As you can see, people there appear to be running from some type of smoke.

We’re closely watching events in Iran. I’m Frederica Whitfield. Mass rallies planned by those opposed to the recent election have not happened. The two reformist leaders have not been seen. But there have been confrontations involving police and protestors. We’re hearing of people trying to make their way to the rallies, only to be met with tear gas and water cannons. CNN and other international media are being kept far from the action. So the images you’re seeing are coming to us from eyewitnesses in the streets. Iran’s state-run press TV reports that two people were killed, eight injured in southern Iran in a blast at the shrine성지 where Ayatollah Khomeini is buried. He of course led the Islamic revolution back in 1979 which led to the overthrow of the Shah 이란 국왕의 존칭 and the taking of the US embassy.

The supreme leader’s first public appearance since the election took place at Tehran University before thousands of worshipers. Many of them bused in from outside the capital and was broadcast across the country. Ayatollah Khomeini dismissed기각하다 charges of election fraud once and for all단호하게. He gave his unwavering확고한 support to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who listened intently from the front row. His main challenger, Mir Hussein Moussavi, noticeably주목할만하게 absent. But he saved his strongest words for the protestors. The protest should be put to an end, he said, if not, responsibility for the consequences will be shouldered by those who comply따르다. A clear warning many Iranians believe to stop or face bloodshed.

For the first time in seven days, opposition supporters stayed off the streets. The only demonstrators visible today, President Ahmadinejad’s supporters who welcomed the supreme leader’s harsh words. I think the demonstrators do not accept our state, she said, they don’t accept our religion, they don’t accept our leader.
