Good evening. A panel of doctors advising the Food and Drug Administration today warned that some of the drugs in virtually every medicine cabinet in America are not safe. Tylenol, Excedrin, and other medications containing acetaminophen are by far the most popular pain relievers in the United States. 28 billion doses of acetaminophen products are sold each year. Today, the panel said the recommended dosage level of those drugs is too high and should be lowered.

 

On our broadcast tonight, dangerous dose. It’s the most common medicine in America, but how safe is it? Tonight, a new recommendation to lower the risk to some people. The pullback. Good evening. There is no more widely used medicine in this country. Acetaminophen is the full name. Tylenol is the biggest name and it’s in a whole lot of products. A lot of people take it for pain relief because it works. Others take it as part of something else, perhaps without knowing it. Too much of it can be very harmful. And an FDA panel is now involved warning consumers about the dangers.
