On the broadcast tonight, in enemy hands. New fears for an American soldier held by the Taliban. Tonight, they’re watching closely in his hometown. From NBC News world headquarters in New York, this is NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. Good evening. Tonight, we believe an American soldier is still being held by the Taliban and the story is complicated by the fact that this soldier apparently chose to leave his base without his weapon and that’s when he ended up in enemy hands. A rather tragic piece of videotape came out over the weekend. On it, private first class일등병 Bergdahl talks about his circumstances while the folks back home in Idaho where happy to see him alive… happy, you know, the Pentagon trying hard to get him back. A small town keeps a big secret as one of their own is held captive. Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Admiral Mike Mullen said today the US is doing absolutely everything it can to find Private Bowe Bergdahl who is taken captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Bergdahl’s identity was a secret until the Taliban released a video of him raising fears for his safety. Laura Marquez is in his hometown of Hailey, Idaho.

 

Today along Main Street, they tied yellow ribbons. The residents of this small town searching for a way to support Bowe Bergdahl and his family. “He’s a wonderful young man and…and I’m… we want him to get back home.” The town is reeling동요하다 from the images of one of own in captivity. “Scared I won't be able to go home. It is very unnerving무기력, 용기를 잃다 to be a prisoner.” The Defense Department says the 23-year-old American soldier left his base June 30th. How or why is unclear. The Taliban claimed they have him, posting this video to the Internet. For the US military, finding Bergdahl is now a 24-hour a day mission.
