Kim Jong Il’s absolute 절대적인 power depends on his people remaining oblivious 감지하지 못하는 life outside the secret state, believing, as he says, that North Korea is paradise. But now, his control is being challenged by his own people and word is getting out.
Dissidents 반체제자 are using technology to show the world images of the secret state that have never been seen before. They’re also giving North Koreans their first views of what life is like on the outside. These are the first cracks 갈라진 금, 틈 in the wall of secrecy that isolates 고립시키다 North Korea and may cause the downfall 몰락 of one of the world’s most secretive and brutal 잔인한 regimes.
Images like these. On the city streets, homeless and hungry children, forced to fend for themselves 혼자 힘으로 꾸려나가다, steal from the markets. A pickpocket 소매치기 is caught and justice 응보, 처벌 is carried out on the street.
This appears to be rice donated 기부하다 by the United Nations World Food Program. It should be rationed out 배급하다 directly to the people. But instead, it is sold for profit in the street market. Only the well-off 부유한 사람들 can afford 여유가 있다 it, leaving the rest with nothing. This woman is lying in the street dead. North Korean refugees 도망자, 망명자 say it’s a common sight.
