Good evening. The speech the president is going to give tonight is an important one. The president will speak about health care reform to a joint session of congress. Only 15 times since 1952 has a president made such an address to congress.
After months of anxious waiting, scientists have gotten their first look at stunning new images from deep space, captured by the Hubble space telescope. They are the first photos received since astronauts conducted a series of delicate spacewalks earlier this year to make final repairs on the 19-year-old telescope. Ryan Owens reports from Huston.
Our eye in the sky is seeing again and what a view. Glimpses희미한 빛 of galaxies light years from our own. Snap shots of crowded star clusters 12 billion years old. Hubble is back and better than ever. “It’s bringing these pictures down and taking us average people on an incredible journey out to the edges of the universe that we now see in, it’s like we’re there.”
6 million light years away in the middle of this spiral galaxy, its blue haze안개 stars being born or in the midst of 100,000 stars, the bright colors aren’t just beautiful, they show scientists the temperature of the stars. Blue are the hottest. Red the coolest. All more than 10 billion years old.
Perhaps the most memorable인상적인 of the new images shows a dying star NASA has nicknamed the butterfly. Those wings may look delicate섬세한, but don’t be fooled. They’re made of gas heated to 36,000 degrees and they’re hurling세게 내던지다 through space at 600,000 miles an hour. This telescope is 19 years old. But in May, it’d got a makeover개조 that now allows it to see farther and clearer than ever before.
