Tonight, conspiracy. The mastermind in the New York terror plot is charged with planning to detonate weapons of mass destruction. AIDS vaccine. For the first time, an experimental vaccine shows promise in preventing infection with the AIDS virus. From ABC News headquarters, this is World News with Charles Gibson.

 

Good evening. He is 24-years-old. He is an immigrant from Afghanistan. Najibullah Zazi was indicted by a federal grand jury today charged with conspiracy to build and explode weapons of mass destruction. Authorities alleged Zazi was urgently moving toward implementation of his plan when it was broken up 10 days ago.

 

Tonight, targeting America. The government accuses Najibullah Zazi of plotting a terror attack possibly on New York and says this man was out to bomb a federal court house in Illinois. I’m Katie Couric. Also tonight, a first for an American president. President Obama chairs the UN Security Council as it adopts a resolution to curb the spread of nuclear weapons. And a major development in the war on AIDS. For the first time, an experimental vaccine prevents infection. This is the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

 

Good evening, everyone. For more than a year, the government had suspected Najibullah Zazi was up to something. And today for the first time, it spelled out what it was. A federal indictment accuses him of conspiring to build and explode bombs with the same kind of explosives used in the deadly train bombings in London.

 

On our broadcast tonight, the plot thickens in that alleged terrorist plot to attack Americans. The key figure now accused of trying to make bombs out of ordinary beauty supplies. This is NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. And good evening from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, one of the great American cities. But unfortunately for the people who live and work here, it has been virtually emptied out. So that Pittsburg can host the G-20 summit of leaders from around the world.

 

The downtown section of this city is desolate(황량한). No people, not a car or truck or bus or a boat or a plane overhead. Just police, troops with humvees and automatic weapons watching over empty streets. This is big event security in our post 911 age which is actually where we begin tonight with this plot the Feds believe they have broken up designed to attack Americans the way we have seen attacks carried out overseas.
