오바마 유엔 연설 서두

 

Let’s go ahead and look now inside the UN headquarters there We are waiting for President Barack Obama to come to the microphones. I believe he has just been introduced by the president of the General Assembly and he is, yes, now making his way up to the podium…..actually taking a seats…..obviously we’ve seen Secretary of State Hillary Clinton there. As and…….of course, the first lady as well. “Barack Obama, President of the United States of America, I may invite him to address the Assembly.”

 

Good morning. Mr. President, Mr. Secretary General, fellow delegates대표, ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to address you for the first time as the 44th President of the United States.  I……I come before you humbled겸허히 by the responsibility that the American people have placed upon me, mindful잊지 않은, 유념하는 of the enormous challenges of our moment in history, and determined to act boldly and collectively공동으로 on behalf of justice and prosperity at home and abroad.

 

I have been in office for just nine months, though some days it seems a lot longer. I am well aware of the expectations that accompany동반하다 my presidency around the world. These expectations are not about me.  Rather, they are rooted, I believe, in a discontent불만 with a status quo그대로의 상태 that has allowed us to be increasingly defined by our differences, and outpaced능가하다 by our problems.  But they are also rooted in hope, the hope that real change is possible, and the hope that America will be a leader in bringing about such change.

 

I took office at a time when many around the world had come to view America with skepticism회의 and distrust불신.  A part of this was due to misperceptions불 이해 and misinformation잘못된 정보 about my country. Part of this was due to opposition to specific policies, and a belief that on certain critical issues, America had acted unilaterally일방적으로, without regard for the interests of others.  And this has fed an almost reflexive반사성의 anti-Americanism, which too often has served as an excuse for collective집단적인 inaction무활동. Now, like all of you, my responsibility is to act in the interests of my nation and my people, I will never apologize for defending those interests.  But it is my deeply held belief that in the year 2009, more than at any point in human history, the interests of nations and peoples are shared.
