But first the Mid-east, our correspondents 통신원, 특파원 have been working throughout the night to bring you the very latest, including Condoleeza Rice’s mission in the Middle East. And we begin with ABC News chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos who is with the Secretary of State in Ramallah on the West Bank. Good morning, George?

 

Good morning, Robin? That’s right. We’re here in the compound <팔레스타인의> 자치정부 청사 of the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas. Secretary, Rice, arrived about 20 minutes ago for this meeting. They are, of course, discussing the 2nd front in the war, here the fighting between Israelis and Palestinians. But for the last day, most of a focus has been on the fighting in Lebanon.

 

Just hours ago, the Secretary of State met with Israeli Prime Minister 총리, Ehud Olmert, to lay the groundwork 초석을 마련하다 for a future end to the fighting. “It is time for a new Middle East. It’s time to say to those who do not want a different kind of Middle East…that we will prevail 이기다, they will not.”

 

As Israeli ground forces 지상부대 make tactical 전술상의 strikes into Lebanon against Hezbollah targets, Rice continues to resist Arab calls for an immediate ceasefire. “We, of course, urgently 긴급히 want, also, to end the violence, so that innocent people can return to a free life. We need to do that, of course, in a way that is enduring 영구적인.”
