Vanishing act. The painter who has turned his disappearance into an art form. From ABC News headquarters, this is World News with Charles Gibson. Lu Bo Lin is an artist who loses himself in his work literally. And he is so good at it. At times, he can be tough to spot. Here’s a clue. Look at the tractor’s front tire. Using himself as a blank canvas, Lu has made an art form out of disappearing into the background. The process to create each photograph is long and arduous고된 힘든. Usually it takes all day, he says. Sometimes, it gets really cold. But I don’t feel it at all. Every detail has to be perfect. There’s no air brush in these photos.
Lu’s works are not just about the optical illusion착시. They’re intended as a political statement about the environment around them. On this day, Lu has chosen a demolition site철거현장 on the outskirts of Beijing. What used to be a village now raced to the ground to make way for bigger buildings. Lu began his invisible series where he was working was bulldozed to spruce up치장하다 the city before the Olympics. I think development is very important for China, Lu says. But in the process, there are some issues. And my work is often a reflection of the social problems caused by development.
