(긴급뉴스) 항공기 테러 불발

Emergency onboard. Reports of injuries after a passenger allegedly tries to blow up a Delta airlines flight. Was it the work of Al Qaeda? Plus, a captured American soldier resurfaces. I’m Jamie Colby in for Sheppard Smith. Tonight, the news starts now. More than five months ago, Taliban militants captured an American soldier in Afghanistan. Tonight, new images of the soldier held hostage and reaction from the US military and the soldier’s own family.

Plus, heavy hit from a nasty winter storm. Tonight, death on the road way and more blizzards ahead.

And celebrating Christmas around the world. We’ll see what the world’s Christians are doing to mark this holiday. We’ll find out how the Pop is doing, one day after a woman knocked him down during Mass. And we’ll hear what the Vatican plans to do about security in the wake of the scare at St. Peters.

But first, there’s breaking news. Tonight the White House says it believes the incident aboard the Delta flight was, “an attempted act of terrorism.” The White House is also increasing security in the air.

All this after sources tell FOX news a man claiming to be connected to Al Qaeda tried to ignite something aboard an international flight. Congressman Pete King, a ranking member on the house homeland security committee, tells FOX News that early indications say the device was somewhat sophisticated.

He says the suspect, a Nigerian, is 23 years old and is now suffering from 3rd degree burns from the onboard attempt to terror attack. We are told the incident happened during the landing of a 9-hour flight from Amsterdam to one of Delta’s hubs in Metro Detroit. There were 278 people on board that plane. And a passenger on the plane reportedly saying he saw a glow불꽃 and then smelled smoke.

Then he says another passenger behind him jumped the suspect immediately subduing진압하다 him. And we’re told a couple of passengers have minor injuries. Officials did evacuate the plane and a bomb disposal van pulled right up on the tarmac. All the luggage was rescreened.
