Tons of food, water and medical supplies. But it is not getting where it’s needed. And for many, time is running out. This is the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric reporting tonight from Haiti. Good evening, everyone. The Interior Minister has just announced that 50,000 bodies have been recovered here so far and that the death toll could go as high as 200,000.

It’s been just over 72 hours since the earthquake hit this impoverished빈곤한 nation and that experts say is about how long any one can live without food or water. And hundreds of thousands of Haitians are spending a fourth night without running water, electricity and very little food. Many are in dire need of medical attention. The level of human suffering here is almost impossible to describe. And it’s everywhere. And so many children. In fact, children under 15 make up nearly 40% of the population of Haiti. And what they’re going through is heartbreaking.
