Yeah, it’s true, Diane, at this show where gadgets rule, today cars are taking center stage. Automakers announcing new technology for the dashboard that is popular, but is it safe? Here at this tech show, an automaker is making headlines. Ford unveiled an 8 inch touch screen. At the driver’s fingertips, GPS for directions, wireless Internet throughout the whole car, even change the color of lights around the cup holders. That is pretty cool. All coming to cars within a year. “What the mouse did for the PC, we want My Ford Touch to do to the interior of Ford vehicles.”
Another trend? Companies adding live TV in the backseat and the front. But in addition to your coffee, your smart phone, and the dashboard display, the new technology provides further opportunities for distraction집중을 방해 하는 것 in an already treacherous위험한 environment. If you’re driving at 60 miles an hour and look away for just 3.5 seconds, you’ll have gone the length of a football field by the time you look back up. ABC’s Lisa Stark tested her ability to drive a curvy굴곡이 많은 road while typing a simple text. Within seconds, “I almost ran off the track.” "It doesn't take a brain scientist to understand that if you're now interacting with your computer, which is a much higher level than even texting, that you're going to have a much greater chance of damaging somebody or yourself."
Now it’s important to mention that Ford says many of these features can be controlled by a voice command, and the video playback only works when the car is in park. But Diane, as we all know when things ring and beep and flash at us, it’s hard to keep our eyes on the road and our car between the lines. All right. Everyone says be responsible about it.
